Basaltica and the Gambellara region
Basaltica was founded by three friends—rooted in their deep love for Gambellara’s native Garganega grape. Alarmed by its diminishing recognition, they committed to reviving its potential through low-intervention, organic farming practices. They source Garganega from small local growers, paying fair prices to support the community and uplift the region’s viticultural heritage.
Their philosophy embraces the volcanic terroir: the basalt soils lend a powerful mineral backbone to their wines. Basaltica’s approach avoids commercial yeasts and embraces ancient techniques like extended maceration to let the land express itself authentically.
Ryo is an intriguing orange wine, made through a refermentation process that gives it deep, rich flavors with a complex nose and a distinct amber hue. The wine offers bold notes of dried fruit, herbs, and a slightly tannic finish, showcasing the winery’s innovative approach.
Garydù, on the other hand, is a fresh and elegant white wine, known for its clean, crisp flavors of citrus and green apple, complemented by a touch of minerality.
Zygo is a bold and character-driven natural orange wine with a luminous copper hue. Fermented on the skins, it opens with intriguing aromas of dried apricot, orange peel, and wild herbs, layered with smoky undertones and a whisper of whiskey on the nose. On the palate, Zygo is structured yet vibrant, offering gentle tannins, savory depth, and a slightly saline finish that speaks to Basaltica’s volcanic soils and hands-off approach in the cellar.
Villabella
Custoza is a crisp, aromatic white wine made primarily from Trebbiano and Garganega, offering delicate floral notes and bright, refreshing acidity.
Valpolicella Ripasso is a more robust red, crafted through a traditional process of “repassing” the wine over the pomace of Amarone, resulting in a wine with deep, velvety texture and complex flavors of dark fruit, spice, and a hint of oak.
Villabella is a renowned winery located in the Bardolino region, on the shores of Lake Garda in northern Italy. The vineyards here benefit from the area’s unique microclimate, influenced by the lake and surrounding hills. The fertile soil and moderate temperatures create ideal growing conditions for a variety of grapes, including the local Trebbiano di Lugana, Corvina, and Rondinella. The winery’s wines are known for their freshness, elegance, and regional character.
Il Conte Villa Prandone
Donello is a refined red blend, crafted mainly from Montepulciano and Sangiovese, delivering a harmonious balance of vibrant fruit and smooth tannins.
Marinus, a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is a full-bodied wine with complex flavors of dark fruit and subtle oak, showcasing the winery’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
Il Conte Villa Prandone is a distinguished winery located in the picturesque Marche region of central Italy, renowned for its fertile hills and unique terrain. The area’s rich soils and ideal climate are perfect for cultivating both indigenous varieties like Montepulciano and Sangiovese, as well as internationally recognised grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. These factors contribute to wines that are elegant, flavorful, and full of character.
